Our goal is to improve lives, engage with the community, and encourage transformative experiences for rejuvenation and motivation towards living a wellness-focused lifestyle. We also strive to mentor and inspire future generations to uplift communities through their talents, one family at a time.
The idea for The Refreshers Spot was formed in 1998 by founder Deborah Thornhill Tate after launching the Livings Springs Arts Academy in Barbados and later in Texas with programs and teams organized to do community outreach and multimedia productions and fine art shows.
After overcoming a medical hardship experience, Deborah Tate decided to share the culmination of items that helped her overcome, become resilient and reset. Apart from further developing her spiritual life, she embarked on a plan to create a hub where she would include the various items of art, wellness and events that enabled her to make a comeback and full recovery. The chronicles of this overcomer included paintings as a way to heal. She shared it with others to encourage and realized that her messages inspired and was a way to bring hope. She then got a website called D’vorah Collections to showcase her art with an online Gallery called The Refreshers Spot and expanded to include The Refreshers Spot gift shop for merchandise and artistic gifts.
She also wanted to share the wellness products that she used during her ordeal so became an independent agent for the body care and nutrition products in an effort to assist others to get into a healthy lifestyle and got together a team for the business. Deborah rekindled her love for traveling and planning events. The Refreshers Spot LLC came to fruition and was officially registered in Florida USA and in Barbados for Arts and Events in 2023.
We believe in giving back to the community so we give a portion of our finances to assist International Legacy Association Inc. ( I.L.A. ) non profit to help with their community outreach to those in need and the humanitarian project for orphans. We encourage others to join us in helping this worthy cause. See website for more information.
Deborah Thornhill Tate aka Deborah Tate is a gifted artist from Florida USA. She has a naturalistic style of fine art and also does semi abstract to communicate ideas, creativity, messages and even dreams. Deborah is the Granddaughter of the Late John Collis Bailey who was a famous artist and musician from Barbados. While Deborah loved observing her grandad paint seascapes, she developed her own artistic style. Her artwork is largely influenced by her love and observation of nature, people, life, photography and performing arts. Deborah uses art to chronicle her journey in life, even obstacles she overcame.
Deborah seeks to motivate and inspire people of all nations as she is of mixed ethnicities. Through her artistic talent she delivers messages of hope and shares what brings her joy and encouragement. While she can do a variety of art mediums, she specializes in oil painting and pastels. Deborah experienced some severe medical challenges in 2021 and the beginning of 2022 and was confined to a wheelchair and unable to use her limbs except her right hand so in her resilience she started back painting as a therapeutic outlet and it eventually led to her series called ‘Chronicles of an overcomer' for D'vorah Collections. Today she has regained her health and continues to paint with a stronger sense of purpose, and desire to create art that inspires and motivates.
Deborah won her first art competition at the age of 8 years with a piece entitled Parrots of Trinidad then at 12 years with a national poster competition. Thereafter Deborah taught and developed youth after school arts programs through the Living Springs Arts Academy which she founded, and other elementary school programs. Deborah did exhibitions including solo exhibitions that led to successful sales in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and the USA. at the Kerr Art Museum in Hill Country Texas and in Austin Texas. Deborah Tate was among the artists chosen to display artwork at the Channel Austin Tv station in Texas, which was open for public viewing, and then selected as the top artist to be interviewed on 7 pm news in October 2010. She took periodic breaks from art as she pursued other studies and then has now chosen to develop her career and business in fine arts. She loves that she has the avenue of Arts Storefronts and The Refreshers Spot Gallery to share her talent both locally and internationally.

“Absolutely fabulous productions including live music, song, dance, and acting. The Refreshers Spot has a unique gift for sharing entertainment that is engaging to adults and connects with teens and kids too. During the holidays, the productions were not only relevant to the times, but featured a campaign to help the homeless and those in need. They are more than on stage personalities, the Refreshers Spot team features talented individuals with a heart to connect across cultural divides and provide a voice for the voiceless. Each event I attended also offered an opportunity to engage with the artisans, local service organizations and vendors. The Refresher Spots is more than a one-time event, it is a living and growing community!” - Dr. Lee | Texas USA

“
Thank you Refreshers Spot for letting me know about these amazing Seacret products. I love the way my skin feels. WOW. It is so smooth and silky. To test it, I used Salt and Oil Scrub on one of my hands first to compare it with the other without the product. It was night and day. The result was that the hand had the product then felt like a baby's skin, so smooth. The other hand felt dry and rough compared to the one with Salt and Oil Scrub. I then used this all over my body, and I am smooth and silky from head to toe. Definitely on my list to restock and will be using it at least 1 or twice a week. Wow! The skin care products ROCK!!!"- Lisa S. | Florida USA
